Four years ago, we realized that because of the continual teaching that was going on with our elderly, they knew more about the Word than most of their Pastors. I was sitting in front of my computer thinking about it and believe the Lord spoke to me and asked what I was going to do about it. I was quite content with the work He had asked me to do and never in my wildest dreams believed that it would involve anything else. The elderly had increased from 200 to 400 and that was my comfort zone.
We can go through life and sometimes we miss things, or we hear things and it does not make an impact. When it makes an impression, we become responsible to do something about it. So about four years ago we started a Bible school. Our first intake was 28. The program is 21/2 Years and we meet for a week in every six weeks. That week is extremely intensive with five 11/2-hour sessions a day and prayers and preaching in the evenings.
Four months into our first school we realized that there was an even more serious problem in that there are no children’s churches. This is the future generation and they need to be trained in the things of God. We asked the students to bring their wives so that we could teach them how to run effective Sunday Schools. Almost all graduated and since then we have 22 Sunday Schools and the pastors’ wives have started women’s groups which are now powerful evangelistic teams.
This project has been so successful that we plan to start another in Tengani in 2021
